Year 5

At Park View  Park View Academy, we have developed and organised the curriculum to make learning exciting, meaningful and memorable for all our learners.

Children’s learning in each curriculum area is organised into research topics. At the start of each research topic the children take part in a ‘Creative Launch’. This is an event or activity that ‘opens up’ the learning theme to inspire and engage the children. At the end of the term, the learning about that theme is brought to a conclusion with another event that celebrates children’s achievements and learning.

Alongside our Research Topics we teach Literacy and Mathematics on a daily basis. We encourage Reading, Writing and Maths to be fully embedded within the whole curriculum.

At  Park View Academy, all our children are taught phonics / letters and sounds. Within Year 1, children are taught through small groups. Throughout school, children have access to Oxford Reading Tree books which are used for reading assessments as well as Bug Club books.
